Keynote and Workshop Topics

This workshop is designed to inspire and empower choral teachers and directors as they start the new, upcoming academic year. It focuses on self-reflection, self-care, and personal growth, ultimately helping teachers become their best selves so they can effectively lead their choirs and positively impact their students. 

Participants will embark on a musical and historical exploration of the profound influence of Negro spirituals in the journey to freedom. Led by music educator Pamela, this workshop celebrates the rich cultural heritage and resilience of African Americans through the lens of these powerful musical expressions.

In this workshop, Pamela shares her expertise in vocal techniques and guides choir directors and vocal coaches in developing the artistry of their choirs. Participants will learn practical exercises, warm-ups, and strategies for improving vocal skills, ensemble blend, and expressiveness, ultimately elevating their choirs to new levels of excellence.

This workshop provides educators with practical insights and strategies for building and maintaining successful music programs. Pamela shares her experiences in program development, recruitment, curriculum planning, and fundraising, offering valuable tips and resources for educators to create thriving music programs in their own schools or communities.

Drawing from her knowledge of the healing aspects of music, Pamela Dawson this workshop on integrating music therapy techniques into educational settings. Participants will explore the connection between music and emotional well-being, learn therapeutic techniques for addressing students' social and emotional needs, and discover innovative ways to incorporate music therapy into their teaching practices.
